'I love playing soccer.' In fact, the country's most-capped outfield player of all time and a former England captain - David Beckham. When Beckham announced his decision to join America's Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy in January 2007, the football world did a double take.  

Michael McIntyre never stops beaming, never stops punctuating his commentary with hearty laughter, not even when he is recounting how, not so very long ago, he broke down in public and sobbed at the failure of his career to take off. He tells me how he wept as he sat in an Edinburgh caf with his wife Kitty, after yet another year of going unnoticed at Britain's premier comedy festival. "I thought I was being completely overlooked," he says with an unnerving guffaw.  

MediaCorp operates seven television channels. Broadly speaking, the English-language Ch­annel 5 and the Chinese-language Channels 8 and U cater to mainstream viewers, and they collectively serve a majority of the tele­vision viewing audience. Each of these channels have their unique market positioning; Channel 8 caters to the majority of the Mandarin-speaking community, or what we term locally as the "heartlanders."  

The good news (for American Idol benefactor 19 Entertainment, anyway) is that these debuts from Season 8's nice-guy champ and flamboyant, shoulda-won runner-up are super-sleek hit machines just waiting to be revved into high gear. There are so many potential singles on each disc, it must've been nearly impossible for the teams behind these nascent pop stars to determine which tune to plug first. Perhaps that's because there's so much repetition and recycling within each album.

One of my first jobs out of school was playing a rotating succession of floozies—some dumb, some angry, all crazy—on MTV's first-ever nonmusical program, Remote Control. The parts were tiny, but Remote Control , the cultish late '80s game show in which three college kids confined to EZ-Chairs answered trivia questions about television and pop culture, was a big deal. Often presented in mini-sketch format, the questions were posed by comics, who'd pop out in different characters when their "channel" was selected.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. The autopsy of an East Tennessee high school football player, who collapsed during a game, shows that he had a heart problem that contributed to the death. Eighteen-year-old Jack Logue, a senior at Sullivan South High School, collapsed after about three quarters of the game on Aug. 21, and was later pronounced dead at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Emergency responders said he had gone into cardiac arrest.  

A family that often has fun together had a blast during an all-expense-paid trip to Hollywood last August. On a typical summer day, Erin Walberg of Annandale was on her way to a softball game when a radio advertisement caught her attention, she told the Annandale Advocate. The announcer asked, "Do you have a fun family?"
